Why has Obama ignored the elderly and older population?
canam asked:
Obama has aimed his campaign at the young, and has ignored the older and elderly population. During the debate it was Hillary who brought up the problems with medicare part D and how the insurance companies profit from it. Does Obama realize that the elderly and older population are more likely to vote than the younger population?

Obama talked about both health care and medicare. He has supporters, young and old.
Third answerer, I suppose you didn’t see the CNN report that showed that the Californians of higher education generally support Obama.

Well you see, he knows that his nonsensical talk will only get pandered by the young. They are easily brainwashed, gullabe, as well as likely to vote on emotion and that’s why he doesn’t pay attention to older people because he knows they aren’t fools like the 18 year old groupes.
Hillary 4 life!

Because he thinks it’s easier to sway young voters then the older voters.

You know your on to something…he doesn’t want them to vote for him. That is so ridiculous, yes, he knows that, but he’s actually honest.

Because he knows the elderly won’t vote for him. They’re wiser. The young he knows he could maybe manipulate them.

Hillary is already too solidified with the old guard and the older population. She’s older than Obama, and has already pushed the health care issue for years, and thus has a better lock on those who find that a critical issue, mainly the elderly.
Obama has the charisma to get out the vote, to say. He has done fairly well so far, and he’s hardly in favor of maintaining the current health care system. The trouble is, people either support or oppose Hillary Clinton, there is very little in between, and most people are not quick to budge on that. So, Obama is going after the more dissatisfied spectrum of voters, those who are much more prone to oppose a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton election series, particualrly due to these two families leading the United States for all of their adult lives.
Obama is choosing his battles, we’ll see how it turns out.

Well all of us younger people kinda hold the future in our hands. And, if you get our attention, you’ll get the votes.

He is playing to the younger generation because he knows the baby-boomers will go to Hillary. The younger generation will also not vote for Hillary because she is to old. They also will vote for Obama because they do not want to come off as ****** (European-Americans voting for Obama) or they just want a black as president (blacks voting for Obama).

Clinton already has the older generations of the Democratic party sewed up. Older people know that the kind of change Obama is talking about won’t happen even though I believe he is sincere. Older people focus on issues and the younger ones focus on ideals. I like it that the younger people are getting interested in the country again but we need more than ideals at this point. We need some serious action.

Numbers are what he is after for eversince. Young voters are larger than the elderly and older people. Most of these young voters are easy to convince or be guiled by his so-called change or future America. However, looking at him read those prepared speeches with Kerry and Kennedy in the background and lobbyists’ money in his campaign fund will surely make sensible voters not to believe his new politics.
He doesn’t really care who will be left out actually so long as he will get more votes. Inconsistencies are clear in most of his propaganda. This is politics of his hypocrisy.

Obama knows the elderly are smart enough to see through the smoke screen that Hillary keeps putting out. One that has watched this country for 20 years or more know how unsafe it is to consider another Clinton. The preset problem with militant Muslims could have been solved back in the 90’s but Bill was to busy chasing women to pay attention.

Yes and he also has a Grandmother who will not speak with him because of the fact that he does not want people to know that she is white and he is so interested in all the black vote. So he will ignore the older and elderly so he can get who he thinks he needs to vote for him. But he will loose, I say that and we vote next tuesday in Missouri and I will not vote for Obama. And I am 63 years old and proud of it.

He doesn’t care because that’s not his base. As you know, he’s pandering to the young and impressionable.
