Why doesn’t it bother elderly to leave our kids in dire straights financially?
Dem. Cluster P Huck asked:
We spend far more on the healthcare of our elderly citizens than other countries spend on theirs. But, we do it largely via DEBT or at least without enough Medicare tax money to pay for those who have been paying for today’s elderly.

And who has been paying for health care all their lives? That’s the ticket. Take the money the elderly have paid in for healthcare replace your clunker.

What a sad question and statement you have made. You. like the idiot in office, place little value on human life.

FIRST, DON’T PANIC!
We HAD problems big enough to END our economy.
We were headed for the 2nd Great Depression.
Drastic measures had to be taken.
But, how do we pay for it?
WELL, HERE’S HOW:
More jobs, more workers
More workers, more pay
More pay, more tax revenue
More tax revenue you can pay off deficit debt.
Just do what happened under Clinton, but with PERMANENT jobs that won’t ‘bubble burst’
For example: Green manufacturing, Infrastructure Maintenance Health Care
[And while we are at it, how about paying teachers a decent wage?]
We could keep good ones get rid of bad ones if the market was competitive.
MAKE it competitive, PAY MORE!
[By the way, with everyone working, childcare will need to be more available, that is where you can use the teachers who were kind loved kids, but just didn’t make the cut.]

Get your facts straight it doesn’t bother Elderly LIBERALS. They are the one who are going to be burdening their kids by making their kids take care of them and pay for their nursing care.
Republicans try and avoid that

it should not be the responsibility of th govt. to take car of anyone….what happened to the family unit taking care of it’s own? simple the Govt. programs like welfare has broken up the family units…more govt. health care is not the answer….less is more….cut off all govt. spending and let everyone take care of themselves…but no th govt. will say they will save it all….when the truth is the more the govt. does, the less we the people will have

The elderly have been forced to make payments into medicare for 40 or 50 years of their lives. will you refund that money to them? I doubt it.

Those elderly people fought and won World War II. They built the country that you live in. They raised their children and grandchildren, of whom you are undoubtedly one. Without their dedication and bravery, there would be no country for you to complain about.
Why not develop innovative solutions that actually solve problems, instead of complaining?

The elderly are your parents and grand parents who spent at least 18 years probably more caring for you and paying taxes to support the schools that educated you, built the city you live in and the roads you drive on. They are not visitor from another planet.Medicare spends on an average of $12000 a year per participant which may be to much but we spend too much on medical for everyone because we have a screwed up system.

The boomer generation has always been self serving. Look at history.
Hippies
Yuppies
Corporate raiders
Retirees in RVs
Now as old folks they are concerned about health care because they want to live forever regardless of the cost.
To the guy above me talking about ww2.
ww2 happened between the years 1939 and 1945 so if someone was 18 years old at the end (the youngest possible to be involved) that would make them 82 years old. These are not the old folks that are making a fuss … that group knows very well that they will not live to see the changes to the health care system and if they do it won’t matter very much. Generally speaking if this group has any kind of medical condition that would require something expensive to treat … like surgery, it will kill them. This is an unpleasant truth that you younger folks will be learning soon enough as you watch your older family members die off.
The group raising the ruckus are their children, the group that is more than happy to spend their children’s inheritance on the slot machines in Vegas.
