The Gov. took away my 60-year-old grandma’s medical care and food stamps?

lilmizsexy91 asked:

So my grandfather died in June or so. Now, my grandmother gets $339 a month from him. She is disabled and is not allowed to work. She has gotten food stamps and medical care from the state since I can remember. They already took away more then half of her food stamps away from her. Now, they want to stop an elder who cannot work from receiving food stamps and medical care because she makes too much when she barely makes enough to pay her bills. We live in a trailer and have no cable. We seriously do not have a lot. I live in Ohio btw. I go to college so I cannot work to support her right now. What can I do? She cannot live like this. She will die. PLEASE help me :( Medicaid is what she did have
I’m not sure if she could last 2 years like this though
Keep in mind that I am 45 mins away with no car or transportation. If I could get a job for her, I would but I have no way to get to and from.

She should check out getting disability. It isn’t much but it is more than $339 a month. It takes 2 years after you apply before you can get it if you are approved. It would seem like she would qualify for Medicaid. Did you grandfather have any life insurance through his employer?

I would start with it is very helpful in cutting your food budget. You could also write articles for places like ehow.com to earn extra money for your grandma. I am not sure why you say you can’t help her? My daughter is a full time student with 3 jobs and 3-4 hours of homework every night. You need to see what you can do to help her.
