Can we stop or atleast slow down the aging?

Shripad H asked:

Aging is a natural phenomenon and starts after the growing process comes to an end. Modern science has made tremendous progress in the cell biology. Can this progress stop the aging or at least slow down the process? Can some harmones be developed for this purpose?

Your best bet is a good diet and an exercise regimen. Get regular medical checkups too. Ask Jack LaLanne if you don’t believe me. He’s in his 90s and is in better shape than most guys a quarter of his age.

When it come to your body and your faculties, use it or lose it.

Expect epigenetic treatment regimens to slow aging. It won’t stop the process, but people living to 100 will be more common. Expect this technology in less than 20 years.

Many factors are involved in the aging process. All these factors impact the Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Nervous, Musculoskeletal, and the Immune Systems. Each system reacts to it’s own physiological makeup. Therefore, how we treat these systems, and the environment in which we live in directly will determine the response to the aging process.

    1. Start a regular exercise program and stick to it.

    2. Stop smoking.

    3. Control your diet. Eat less fat.

    4. Take proper diet supplements.

    5. Limit your exposure to the sun.

    6. Watch your weight, avoid obesity and limit your calories.

    7. Limit your consumption of alcohol and caffeine.

    8. Reduce and avoid stress as much as possible.

    9. Instead of driving, walk when you can.

    10. Go to sleep the same time each night.

They have an experimental hormone they have been giving to mice that stops the deterioration of muscle mass as the subject gets older. The mice that were the equivelent to a 50 year old human showed they had the same muscles of those mice that were equivilent to 20 year old humans that had been administered the hormone. There are many theories in modern science on how to slow down or even eliminate aging. They are also studying pollops, which make up coral which have the ability to actually reverse the aging process at one stage in their lives. Your body stops aging after you reach a certain age, most people just dont make it to this age, so if there is a defined end to aging there has to be a way to either slow it down, reverse it, or maybe even go back and forth between young and old, that would be crazy. But as for who would get this special treatment, that is a another problem in itself. The worlds population is already way over our capacity to feed and house everyone, so do most people really need to live longer? Thats a moral dilema in itself. Everyone would want it, but you cant give it to everyone, that in itself would be an unethical and illogical scenario because it would jeopardize the entire future generations to come
