The Liberals tried to help the retired senior citizens get back money they would have lost in Social Security because of the downfall of prices during the recession.
The Conservatives said no? Why don’t Conservatives care about old people?

They don’t care about anyone other than themselves.
Oh wait they also care about the corporate CEOs that line their pockets.

Conservatives are more focused on money than on the welfare of seniors. They think seniors can fall back on charities, churches, soup-kitchens, etc…

Because one of the defining characteristics of Conservatives is their lack of compassion. They are not very empathetic, usually self-absorbed and tend to think of things in very simple terms.

The GOP wants to throw Grandma and Grandpa from the train.
This will come back to haunt them in the 2012 election. Old people vote and they will remember this

A few senior citizens I know, and some liberals, viewed the $250 as a simple bribe for their votes. However, nobody turned down the checks.
Also, the downfall of prices you mention means that senior citizens were given a raise because stuff costs less. It wasn’t to help them get back money
There are lots and lots and lots of things people care about. If the government paid for them all, the US would be broke overnight.
The liberal strategy of criticizing anyone who is against giving taxpayer money to anyone who deserves it is irresponsible, because you have to make choices.

The needy has never been a priority of the republicans. They’ll bail out banks and car companies before putting food on granny’s plate. It’s What’s in it for me? philosophy.

Most senior citizens are conservatives. They pull the strings in the Republican Party.

Ever think that they voted against it because of some of the other factors included in the bill? Theres always a catch to these things. Heres a made up scenario: Dems vote for a bill to increase school funding by 500 billion dollars. Repubs vote it down because they dont like the way its formatted, too much waste in governing it or too much of the money not actually getting to education aspect and being wasted on administration, ect. So what do we have here, we have people saying the Repubs dont care about children. When its actually that they do, they just want to spend the money in a more effecient way. This goes both ways, its not just one sided. You just have to see both sides of the issues and actually know whats going on.
