there are several people around where i live that are on ssi, they all seem to be in their thirties as near as i can tell. they all seem to be physically healthy, have computers, cars, tv’s dvd’s vcr’s and are able to operate all of them. as far as i know they all get fre medical care, food stamps plus their ssi.
here’s the rub. there are several elderly people around (including myself) who need things done like cleaning, go to the store or errands etc etc. hones to god. you cannot get these s.o.b.’s to do a thing EVEN WHEN you are willing to pay much more than any errand is worth. however, they do make money on the side and i’ll bet that not one of them report it.
i worked all of my earning life and i and others cannot begin to afford the things these godam—- parasites can. the whole system is scr4ewed up no wonder soc sec is broke. maybe if these assho— got jobs soc sec would be solvent.

I was once on Medicaid and I noticed that with the people who give out the welfare it was definitely the inmates are running the asylum they are more at fault than the recipients who receive it.

Sometimes a person may look able-bodied and be disabled.

But some states are not good when it comes to how they treat older people.

California is one of the better states for that.

I totaly agree on this. they need to start all over and weed out the the abledbodied from the really needy.. I made very little and still have to pay taxes because I was stupid enough to go to work for 25 years and I have c.p

Yes, there are many people who will not work so they know how to play the system to get a check.
I work for a Medicaid assistance program and you would be surprised how many are more healthy than I am. They just have a good enough dr. to declare them disabled.
There are also many who deserve Medicaid and other govt. assistance who have trouble getting it.
The assistance programs need to be reworked to benefit the ones who really need it.

Because these healthy people are just not going to work. I live in a small town and know many since I worked at the Post Office. If they were not supported by public assistance they would steal and rob, at which point they would be in jail and supported by us anyway.

there are mental health disabilities, soem one can be perfectly able bodied but not emotianly stabe or well
they may LOOK fine to you, but that doesnt mean they are
apprearences are always decieving

Its not only the elderly, its those of us is really disabled is treated wrong,I am 55 and been disabled from a hit an run since late ’80s in Aug ‘08 had a stroke Dec ‘8 had congestive heart failure and again in Jan.’09……..people treats me like I have a desease that they are going to get………we are a forgotten group both the elderly and the disabled, we live on far less than most and find a good aid to come in and help with our needs.

I find your question to be timely. Many don’t understand that long term care provided through Medicaid requires that you have next to no assets. This is a problem that impacts both lower income and middle class citizens.The only legal way around it is to establish a trust and put all your money and possessions into the trust. The trust must be created at least 5 years before you apply for long term care through Medicaid. The only other solution is to die young at home. Welcome to the progressive USA.
