Speaking My Mind About a Funeral?
** asked:
I went to my friend Anne’s dad’s funeral. A few days later I call Anne and tell her: That my own mother would NOT want to be buried where her dad is buried, that it was not a religious cemetery. My mother wanted to be buried on religious ground.

My friend said nothing. It sounded like she was grieving for her dad, and she hung up the phone.
I know I was right in telling her this, so why does she not call me anymore? Don’t I have the right to speak my mind?
I have a Ph.D in elder care, and am highly edcuated. I believe in telling people the TRUTH, and don’t care about feelings. Don’t people know the TRUTH sets one free?

You were insensitive and a clod. IJR wouldn’t speak to you either. SHe was grieving the loss of a loved one, and then you go and tell her he wasn’t very buried properly. That’s simply wrong.

There’s a way of telling the truth without destroying the person in the process.

Couldn’t you have waited until Anne was done grieving her father???
There is a time and place for everything, and a few days after Anne’s loss was definitely NOT the time.
Be careful, you are giving education a bad name.
Perhaps you missed the class on Sensitivity Training?

you have a right to speak your mind, but that doesn’t mean that people won’t get mad at you if you offend them.
she was probably still grieving the loss of her father, and you shouldn’t have yelled at her.
you should apologize.

Dear phd please read the first 13 chapters of proverbs, you might think twice about Telling Truth, all the time.
