I think ALL drivers should be re-tested for their licenses, every two years.

Not if they have a clean driving record. It would be more beneficial to re-test teenagers who have violations on their reocrd.

Absolutely yes, every six months over the age of 65, I live in Florida and there are over one hundred seniors over the age of 100 who still drive!!!! At that age your reflexes slow down, your eyesight is not what it used to be and it is common sense that given that age you really should not ever drive anywhere, it’s the same as having a drunk driver on the road.

I think once a year after 60. This might be a pain in the but for the old folks, but I have seen some horrible older drivers. They drive the biggest cars they can afford and say the hell with everyone else.

While most senior citizens drive quite well when compared to the average driver, and quite a bit better than newly licensed teens, I would prefer an annual retesting, specifically eyesight, for people over the age of, say, 70 or so.
On the other hand, I would raise the minimum age to get a driver’s license to 18, and make driving education a mandatory requirement.

Yes by all means, but by someone who can make a ruling and set limitations on a one to one basis. Ex. limited to certain hours of daytime hours, limited distance from a home base. I was just re-tested last month, I am blind in one eye and have limited sight from day to day with the other. I have no business driving, but use the license mostly for identification. I got my license with no questions asked. I wouldn’t want to ride with me.

Only if they have some type of medical condition such as a stroke, heart attack, brain seizures or if they have some kind of serious moving violation. My father got his driver’s license yanked after he had a stroke and got a ticket. He was so stubborn that is what it took for him to quit.

    Yes.

As a person ages, the eyesight changes gradually. Some people’s eyes should be examined regularly due to this fact.

Mental activity changes also, and some people’s mind wander from that which they are doing (driving) and they become dangerous on the road.

Reaction time slows while the driver sticks to bad driving habits that were acquired when younger, such as driving too close to the vehicle ahead of them, which causes too many rear-end collisions.

The decrease in driving speeds caused by the fact that the older driver now fears their vehicle (or can no longer read the speedometer). This causes the older driver to operate their vehicles 20 MPH below the posted speed limit, thereby causing traffic tie-ups, frayed tempers and road-rage in the more impatient drivers behind them.

no i don;t think so seniors are more cautious and they know when its time to quit driving.
but i think teen s and 20 yr olds should there;s more deaths from bad and unsafe driving.

This question goes round and round. I don’t think seniors should be re-tested. Most of us ‘old’ folks are safe drivers, it is the young people like you that should be retested every time you have your license renewed until you reach age 30. Did this help you? Poppy

In Virginia, if you have a clean driving record, your eyes are tested every 10 years in your birthday month. I think if you check your state’s stats on auto accidents, compared to miles driven, you will find the past 60 are better drivers.

My plans are to drive until I am 100. At which time I will marry a 30 year old girl and have no reason to go anywhere. That will be my stepping stone to heaven.

    What again,yet another ‘project’
I suggest reading the papers, about a dozen kids are killed every week through showing off and driving beyond their limitations,Then decide who need retesting
