Senior Citizens? What is your favorite comfort food you eat to raise your spirits and comfort you?
Lynn asked:
I think mine is a hot fudge sundae, heavy on the hot fudge. And if that isn’t available, any Hershey’s bar
will do. I am a chocolate fiend, and it always heightens my outlook, if I’m having a bad day. Most of the time
though, I just have to ride through my day without chocolate. So a chocolate ‘fix’ would be a rare treat.

Evidently chocolate does something for women which men don’t experience. I have never thought of food providing comfort. I eat food to live, if I want comfort I take a nap in the recliner, or on the yard swing in the summer.

Just had it tonight for dinner — spaghetti with meat sauce. We’ve been snowed in for 2 days and just wanted a nice hot meal that was comforting. I love meatballs and Italian sausage, but sometimes you just want spaghetti topped with a nice meat sauce. It was delicious.

Homemade cinnamon rolls with pecans. I make them with frozen dough I buy in the market and they taste like I’ve made them from scratch. Simple but worth it.

Hot soup does it for me on a cold winter night, and I like to make several kinds all through the winter. Tonight it was chicken-lentil soup with lemon and olive oil. Homemade chili with red kidney beans is another cold-weather comfort food. I have given up chocolate completely, it makes my heart palpitate as does sugar (messes with hormones or something), I did love to drink a cup of hot cocoa in the winter especially in the cold mornings.

A hot fudge sundae, heavy on the hot fudge, and made with coffee flavored ice cream, would do it for me.

My comfort food is a chocolate covered ice cream on a stick.
Here in Scotland it is known as a Magnum.

Sometimes all it takes is a bowl of hot tomato soup and a grill cheese sandwich. And other times it might be some takeout steamed rice and that chinese curry chicken. Or some Oxtail vegetable stew with fresh baked french bread. All very satisfying and comforting for different reasons.

Chocolate is my favorite comfort food, especially dark chocolate filled with caramel. My 89 year young mom always has a box of chocolates because everyone knows she loves chocolate and she eats a LOT! She only weighs 79 pounds and is so tiny and cute. Recently, she has been hiding it from me. I wish I had not told her I was diagnosed with pre diabetic blood sugar levels. Me and my big mouth! We take her dinner and visit often. My big mouth has gotten me into trouble again, ha!
