Senior Citizens, what career would you work at, if you had a second chance at living?

Lynn asked:

Would you have lived a more simple life? Or would you have gone the
opposite route and tried for the bigger bucks? Would you have gone
into the entertainment field, or would you have become a farmer? So
many just worked at odd jobs rather than a career. What would you
do to have had a better goal plan if you could do it all over?

Being a rock star would have probably ruined me! Now I can see that had I been smart, I would have gone into the medical field as a nurse or xray tech. If I could do it over, you betcha. I was married to a farmer, and to be quite honest, living on a farm after being a city girl, makes you appreciate so much more in life. I am thankful for that time in my life.

Naturopath, but owning a health food store, a greenhouse with herbs, or being a textile designer would also suit me.

The tense utilized in your question makes it appear that we are already deceased. Certainly you are not asking the dearly departed for reminiscences.

I would have done exactly what I did do. I worked for 18 yrs. in the printing department of a insurance co. and enjoyed every moment of it.

I can’t really say, as I’m still not sure what I want to be when I grow up. I’m only 50 :) I do know that I’ve had very good, very lucrative jobs over the years, even without a college degree. I’ve enjoyed a wonderful marriage, two great kids, and living in a beautiful community. I have a very blessed relationship with the Lord, and I really can’t imagine how things could have been any better!

What a question. I would love to pursue a good solid education, become a civil engineer. Travel a lot for my career.

I would not have given up on a legal career.
I shunned it in youth b/c of all of the corruption I saw.
Had I been more mature, I would have learned that the best way to fix a system is from the inside.

I did my career ladder and had no regrets. I am retired. I think that it is possible for that 2nd career for many Seniors. I now do some of those odd jobs as a volunteer or student for fun. I work a few hrs a month at a food bank. I ventured into glass blowing for a while to see if it would fit. I do other volunteer work as well. I am now inclined to do less stressful tasks that in my prior career. I know of many SCs who are also doing these and other things. I hope you are able to get your career going. Good luck!

I was very fortunate in my career and love what I do. If I could do it again, I’d like to be a talk show host.
