I have 4 cats and 3 dogs. My cats are indoor/outdoor pets so there is no need for litter boxes. We have a pet door for them. The dogs are fenced in because of leash laws in our county. My cats sleep with me. They give me comfort and I think that is good. My hubby takes care of our dogs. Poppy

Generally I would say that senior citizens who maintain pets are active to the point that those pets need taking care of. So would you say that those senior citizens who opt for not having pets because they love to travel are not as active?

My two dogs keep me active in the house because they know how to protest if I am on the computer or reading, and throughout the day there is a lot of in and out the back door which I have to go downstairs to open. They adore their walks, we try for a mile every day

My animals are what is keeping me alive. I have to take care of them so they keep me active. I love them so they keep me sane. I have 2 white American Bulldogs, 10 turkeys, 20 free-range chickens and I just rescued a 4 yr old male pug that has been horribly neglected. I am now nursing him back to health, and he will soon be my new best friend.

Absolutely. I have two dogs. One is a 65-pound mutt and the other is a 15-pound beagle. I have to walk them separately, because I can’t manage two dogs at once. That means twice as many walks, and twice as long for the walks. They are great company.

I have a cat that keeps me company and active, she’s 16yrs old and I’m 63. My Mom who is 80 also has a cat that keeps her company and active, her cat is 10yrs old.

We have a cat, but he mostly ignores us, so there is not active issue with him. We have to find other ways to keep active. Like mowing the lawn.
