Opportunity for Senior Citizen scam?

millie.dogue asked:

My step dad is 82 and in frail health. He has been widowed for 4 years lives in a senior-subsidized housing in an affluent area. I heard from my cousin that he now has a girlfriend (he asked her about Viagra! TMI!!).

My even bigger concern is that the gf is a 40-yr-old illegal alien!! My cousin tells me she overstayed her tourist visa from UK and now works as an elder care aide for $10/hr under the table (going rate is $25-$30/hr in this area for shopping, cleaning, bathing, laudnryetc.)

I am not concerned that she will rip him off (he has no money) but should I be concerned? (BTW - ick - no Viagra, his dr. won’t prescribe because of his heart - so no worries there). Sure, he’s a nice guy and not bad looking for an 82 y.o., but jeez, she’s 40 !!! What is she thinking??? I can only guess that she’s not bright enough or hasn’t figured out yet that he has no $$, since he lives in a pretty nice place.
1. Yes, I have visited him confirmed all this but didn’t offer my suspicions. I have not met the gf I don’t think I want to.
2. He has only about $50 month to spare (SSI check goes directly to care provider then give him an allowance they keep track of $$ requests)
3. Can’t imagine she is in it for the citizenship as, quite frankly, he doesn’t have time left to get married for her to process paperwork. When I say frail I mean high BP, diabetes, on oxygen, and barely able to walk.
