I’m lost–Why is Obama wrong not to give seniors a SS raise when conservatives want to get rid of Medicare?

Obama is a monster for not giving seniors their Social Security raise anyway even though there is no legal basis for it under the 1972 COLA. But at the same time, true conservatives want to do away with Medicare since it is socialised medicine and not the government’s job to provide health care. It’s the same old people being affected and it’s all just Federal tax money. Can somebody make that make sense to me? I don’t get it.
