I took care of an elderly couple who lived next door to me when I was first married. I did the Shopping, cleaned their house for them, and also did the washing. They had two Daughters who never lifted a hand for them, and one day the eldest came to see me and asked if I could, wash her blankets for her. Guess what.. you do not want to hear what my answer was. I would never have taken one penny for what I did as their thanks were enough. They were a very nice couple.

The others had it right. The type of care you are expected to provide will make a huge difference in your pay. One lady we know gets over eight hundred a month from the State of Michigan for taking care of her boyfriend. Others get only one hundred seventy five dollars a month. Her duties are to sweep, mop, vacuum, change bedding, laundry and set up a weeks pills. Taking her client shopping for groceries and seeing that the client pays all her bills every month.
If you are to bathe, dress, feed, lift into a wheelchair all makes your job more difficult so your pay is more. So I agree with the others, talk with that person offering you that job, find out how many hours a day and how many days a week you are expected to work. Find out the level of care and if you are interested, please get every thing in writing before you even think of starting this kind of job. You also must know if the patients are mentally ok or not. Good luck but do your research.

Probably depends on what you would be expected to do, Is it in their home or are they in the hospital? Check around in your community to find the going rate.

If you work for an agency you will probably make $8-9/hr. You might be able to charge $10 as a private care giver. This is for straight companionship care that doesn't require a CNA to bathe or handle incontinence products.

The first thing you need to do is to sit with whoever offered you the job find out the specifics of your duties they differ for different kinds of care ask questions then talk about your pay.You should also write things down

I am assuming that you are not going to work for an agency. My daughter got $10 an hour. That was about 5 years ago

When a friend of mine went into a nursing home,
her house was sold to pay for her care, and they only left with enough money to pay for her funeral.

I would call the person who offered the job, and ask them how much
the job pays. That is the only precise way you will find out. It could
be only minimum wage, on which you couldn't support yourself. So it
pays to always inquire as to what the job pays, in order for you to
accept that position.
