Average Nurse Aide Pay?
Brownie asked:
I worked as a nurse aide at a privately owned elder care facility over the summer, and I made $9/hour. I have a meeting next week with the human resources department of a large chain of hospital for a nurse aide position to discuss the hourly rate. I also have extensive volunteer experience at hospitals, and I’m currently in a pre-medical program in college. I’m just curious what a reasonable hourly rate is? I definitely think I should be making more than $9/hour with all of the physical work involved with the job. Additionally, I’m trying to work nights and weekends, so some people have suggested to me that I get paid more for those shifts. I’m just curious what is reasonable, I don’t want to be underpaid, but at the same time I don’t want to demand too much. Also, I will be working full-time and long-term. Let me know what you think guys.
