If the elderly in the United States are going hungry it is the choice of the ones that are suppose to love them or they refuse to eat the meals made available to them or are to proud to ask for help.

I really **** having the federal government doing anything that can be done effectively by local communities.

Why not contact the Churches, your local government, your local civic groups?

Your statement that most elderly are disabled is very incorrect. Unless you define elderly as VERY VERY OLD. or have a very strange definition of disabled. Most people I know between 65 and 80 years old are able bodied, and busy in their Church and with family. Are they as able as they were at a younger age, NO, but they sure aren’t disabled.

I think you’d discover, the funding did not stop, it was re-routed. It was sent to local communities, and organizations who are supposed to be doing this job now, but many times fail. This is a job for local communities, who can effectively evaluate the situation in their community, devise a plan, and take action.

The federal government takes action in a very inefficient manner, that just wastes money.

If you see an issue in your community, then go to your local government first, that’s where your battles need to begin.

I think it should fall on the family. I believe a family should take care of it’s own. I take care of both my parents. Now if they have no family, then there should be a service to help. But if they have family they should be made to care for them!
